CQ: eeeeee! This is so exciting, you guys are the best!!
AB: You are currently skating in our Learn to Skate program which is ending this month. What are your goals for the upcoming season?
: Building strength and conditioning (Miss DeMeaner and I try to go to the gym a few times each week to lift weights!) and skate with the Bootleg Betties.
AB: What is your favourite part of the Learn to Skate program?
CQ: Seeing the difference in everyone's skating from one week to the next and the huge improvements in skills since the start of the program.
AB: When did you join our league and what roles have you taken on?
CQ: I started coming to practices at Cody Banks during the 2015 season and did my first round of Learn to Skate that fall. I joined the Board of Directors as the Sponsorship and Fundraising Director in 2015; I was the bench coach for the Bootleg Betties in 2016; and I just signed up for the training committee for 2017!
AB: As our league's Sponsorship Director, what type of perks do our sponsors get in return for their support?
CQ: There's lots of opportunities for sponsorship, and they get some pretty great perks! Free tickets to games is the best (in my opinion!) and lots of opportunities for advertising to our league members and fans
AB: It's Pretty wild but your whole family skates now eh?
CQ: YES! My kids (SlingSHAWk & Killer Kaia) both started the junior program (now Charlottetown Junior Roller Derby League!) last year and they love it. My husband joined Learn to Skate with me this year. There's no men's league yet, but he'll have the opportunity to skate as a ref or a coach and during any co-ed games.
AB: What keeps you motivated and inspired to devote so much of your time & energy to roller derby? (And THANK YOU!)
CQ: Everyone in the league! I want to make this league successful for everyone currently in it, and for anyone who may join in the future. My kids love everything Bootleg City, and always want to help volunteer and fund-raise, so making sure PEI roller derby is successful in the future is important to me.
AB: What is your favourite derby memory?
CQ: Definitely bench coaching the Betties during the Day of Derby Debauchery. It was a close game, and the team played so well against a strong opponent, I was so proud of all of their hard work!
AB: If a genie offered you 3 wishes, what would you wish for?
CQ: I'd wish to own a roller skating rink in town; a couple million dollars; and to skate like Bonnie ’N’ Collide!
