AB: Congratulations on the August title, Miss deMeaner!
MdM: Thank you so much, I'm pretty excited :)
AB: What brought you to Fresh Meat last fall?
MdM: Actually my mom surprised me and took me to the open house. I fell in love right away. And here I am…
AB: You just got all your minimum skill requirements to play derby, how are you feeling about it?
MdM: On cloud 9! All the hard work and dedication finally paid off.
AB: Will you be playing any games this season?
MdM: Through continued hard work and dedication I hope to be prepared enough to play a few games before the season is over.
AB: Roller derby requires a lot of commitment and hard work, how has it impacted your life since joining?
MdM: I feel great ! I worked very hard to be where I am now. I am more physically fit then I've ever been. I am proud to be skating with an amazing group of ladies n gents. Tbh I feel like a bad ass.
AB: We are always working on new skills, what are you working on these days?
MdM: I will continue to work on the minimum skills, but trying to improve my t-glides and eventually I'd like to try the tomahawk stop.
AB: As a new skater, what advice can you offer to anyone looking to join Fresh Meat this fall?
MdM: Don't be scared to join because you think you "can't" do it. Practice makes perfect. Put in some hard work and dedication and you'll achieve whatever goal you put your mind to. Word of advice, lose the word CANT from your vocabulary. Because you CAN!
AB: Do you have any gear upgrades on your wish list?
MdM: Knee pads.
AB: What are your goals for the rest of the season?
MdM: To play a game and get my name on the back of a Betties Jersey.
