AB: Congratulations on the April title! Your hard work hasn't gone unnoticed!
K: Wow, honestly shocked and stoked to be derby girl of the month for a second time!! Thanks so much!! XXX
AB: Your strength and stability on your skates is impossible to ignore, what the X, man‽
K: Haha thanks! I definitely pride myself on this, since learning to use my edges more I do my best to put this into practice to be that one blocker who is hard as X to move on that track.
AB: You have been sticking a star on your head this season, why the change of heart?
K: Decided it's time to step out of my comfort zone a little bit and challenge myself in a new way at practice. Jamming is tough and I have always had a lot of respect for those that do it.
AB: You always have a positive spirit at every practice and bout. What keeps you smiling about roller derby in your 6th year?
K:The more I practice, learn, improve the more I love the game. But equal to that is getting to hang out, practice, skate, bout with all of you Beautiful People! I think we have a pretty amazing league and being a part of it makes me happy.
AB: Is there anything you look back on from your early years of derby that you wish you had done differently?
K: I have some mixed feeling on that one...I reffed our first season and I have no regrets of doing so, I learned a lot from doing it and it was a great experience (I would encourage anyone and everyone to try reffing) but I also wish I played that first season, I let my insecurities get in the way of that. Live and learn, don't let insecurities stop you!
AB: What are your main focuses during our pre-season?
K: Working on the skills I need to improve, talking more on the track and anything else that will make me and even stronger blocker/teammate.
AB: If you could offer any advice to new skaters about to have their first competitive season, what would it be?
K: I know it gets crazy out there but do your best to listen to the other players on your team on the track. Don't be afraid to talk on that track!! Ask all the questions, it will help improve your game and understanding what the X is going on out there and why you need move, stay, do a certain thing or whatever.
AB: Why do you love 80's/90's music so much and what's your favourite song?
K: The nostalgia, that's my childhood and teenage years. As for favorite song, ya'll know I'm gonna say Shoop!
AB: You have taken on many roles with both Red Rock 'N Roller Derby and Bootleg City. What's on your plate these days?
K: I currently sit on the Board of Directors as the league Secretary, as well, I am in the Training Committee and the Sponsorship and Fundraising Committee.
AB: What are you most looking forward to in 2016?
K: I am pretty pumped about travelling to Maine with the Moonshine Maidens this year for a bout. I can't wait to hit the track with you all! XXX
