AB: Congratulations PSYCHO! I'm sure we all saw this day coming for a while.
P: EEEEE!!! I'm so excited. Let me just take a second to thank everyone for making this happen!
AB: You played an awesome 1st season, what brought you to derby?
P: Thank you, it's been tough but an amazing opportunity to grow and learn. Derby has always been on my bucket list. When it first came to the Island I was determined to give it a shot but time and money were a huge factor. Queen Wasp played a huge part in finally getting me on skates and giving it a try.
AB: Better question, what keeps you in derby?
P: Everything about derby keeps me in derby. My confidence has grown, the friendships I've made, the roadtrips and the constant pushing myself to try new things and overcome obstacles.
AB: You have taken on many big roles at Bootleg City, what do you have on your plate as the rest of us going into off season?
P: I am still working hard on recruitment for next season, working with Mock'n Sins coaching Jr. Derby, and making sure all of our new recruits are comfortable and ready to learn all they can.
AB: You are heavily involved in the creation of junior derby in Charlottetown, what are your goals for the mini derbies?
P: As this is our very first Jr. Derby Fresh Meat I am looking forward to watching these skaters grow and learn. Each week these minis amaze me with their skill level and how much they push themselves. It's really amazing to be a part of this project. As for the future, I hope to continue to recruit minis and grow our Jr. Fresh Meat hoping that in a few years we will have enough skaters to develop a team and begin some black and whites.
AB: Do you have any highlights you can share from your first season?
P: So many highlights. BECOMING A MAIDEN!!! Our very first game I was convinced I was going to die or puke, any and all road trips with you goons, the many epic after party rap battles, getting to play two co-ed games and earning MVP Jammer in both, on skate dance parties, and meeting my wife.
AB: Do you have any gear upgrades on your wish list these days?
P: SKATES! Knowing I have weaker ankles I'm beginning to think I need to invest in something with a little more support.
AB: What skating skills are you currently working on?
P: What skating skills am I not working on. I feel I am always working on all of my skills, however the ones I want to work on or dream of mastering are power slides, hockey stops, one foot transitions, and the ever amazing apex jumps *my dream is to one day be able to achieve this*.
AB: I'm going to ask the unaskable.. How does it impact a relationship when your wifey is your teammate?
P: For the most part we separate derby from our homelife, although derby is a huge part of our lives in every capacity. Mocky is a pretty honest and straight forward person and isn't afraid to give me advice, guidance, or constructive criticism, as she would with anyone else. She is someone, along with many others, that I look up to and strive to be more like. She motivates me to grow and become a better skater and all around human.
AB: What are your long term roller derby goals?
P: My long term goals are to continue to play as much as possible and learn all that I can. I also hope to help continue to grow the sport on the Island for all ages and genders.
